Abundance Mindset : Much of society seems to be built on a scarcity mindset. It’s a mindset that tells people that there is something missing in their lives, that opportunities are few and far between. Of course, this is useful for society, because if people feel like they’re lacking something, it can drive them to buy things. This keeps the economy and society going, by reinforcing the scarcity mindset in people and encouraging them to keep living and growing. But for the individual, a scarcity mindset can be quite painful, creating unnecessary fear, worry, and hopelessness.

The abundance mentality tells you that there are always new opportunities available to you. It alleviates much of the pressure you may feel if you have a scarcity mentality that only makes you think about what you lack right now, which led you to take this shot. Or it can make you feel completely unsuccessful just because you stumbled and things didn’t go as planned.

The abundance mentality allows you to see life from a longer-term perspective. It helps you improve your performance because you create less pressure and anxiety in your own mind. If you have a scarcity mentality, you will probably take things too seriously. You may think to yourself, ‘If I fail, the sky will fall.’ It probably won’t, but you believe it will, you become overly tense and unhappy! You create a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure because your self-created negativity puts obstacles in the way of success.

If it’s a game, then you can play with the ball. If it’s an exam, you may not have slept well and perform poorly on the test. If it’s a date, you may feel different than usual, more needy and nervous, and need more confidence. Here are a few tips that I have found useful for creating and strengthening your own abundance mentality.

1. Focus on Abundance, Not Scarcity.

Whatever you focus on, you will see it in your own world. Since you cannot take in all the impressions around you, your mind’s focus system will focus your thoughts on what you are concentrating on.

This will allow you to see the abundance that may currently be lacking in your world. For example, if you don’t have money, don’t focus on the lack. Focus on the abundance of possibilities in the world to earn money and think about them.

Focus your mind on it, and soon ideas and opportunities to achieve it will start to ’emerge’ in your world.

2. Appreciation” or “Gratitude

A quick way to develop a normal habit of thinking about things you don’t have is just to appreciate. Appreciate your food, your life, your home, your friends, your family, etc.

Not only does this not only make your bad mood more positive in just minutes, but it also helps you notice missed or forgotten opportunities. And it creates a vibration that makes it easier to focus on abundance. So make it a habit to appreciate a few minutes every day.

3. Get a Sense of Abundance from Other People

For example, if you have developed a scarcity mindset from inputs such as advertising and media, you can change your input to change your mindset.

Stop watching the news. Instead, watch your favorite shows. Or just reduce your TV and media consumption.

Change the scarcity mindset you get from this input. You can do this by hanging out with people who have an abundance mentality.

Read, listen, and watch personal development materials. Have a positive attitude towards the abundance and success of your friends, family, and coworkers. In real life, hang out with people who have an abundance mindset and less scarcity mindset.

Be selective about what you put in your mind. Create your own abundance environment.

4. Remind Yourself.

Even if you feel like you’re currently experiencing scarcity, you can reverse this by reminding yourself of everything you have to be grateful for in your life.

Alternatively, you can remember times in the past when you had abundance. Maybe you’ve had a few job opportunities lined up at once. Remind yourself of those times. Understand that you can recreate similar situations again.

Finally, try to adopt a more positive mindset. Without such a mindset, it will be difficult to create and believe in an abundance mentality if you’re always struggling with negative thoughts.
